I mitered the outer corners and glued them in place, then trimmed them ﬂush with my block plane after the glue was dry. 3 ⁄16"-square mortise with a drill bit and Perfect match. The back door is cut with four straight cuts from a single panel; the hinges are installed before reassembly. ﬁtting each panel between two legs and testing the ﬁt on the inside of the top panel. I made a couple of adjustments as needed by planing the edges of the panels or scraping away the back of the moulding. When each panel ﬁt individually, I assembled all four with the legs and made sure everything ﬁt neatly within the moulding.
