All the construction techniques remain the same: add “X’s” over the small dots, add elbows and corners, then weave. The one differ- ence is that you do not add X’s over the little dots crossed out by the walls. Instead, add more elbows and corners as the knotwork lines “bounce” off the walls.
Each line as it interlaces must go over, and then under, any other line it intersects as you follow its path in an “over-under-over-under” pattern. No areas of two overs or two unders in a row! To start your over/unders, pick any point of intersection on your knot. At this intersection (shown here in red), erase part of the double lines of one of the knot “ropes” to create the illusion of one rope passing over the other. 6 Continue to follow that one rope of knot, erasing as you go, alternating whether it goes over or under the next rope it meets.
